Biography
Helen joined the lab in 2010 after graduating from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology with a concentration in Genetics and a minor in music. During her time at UC Berkeley she spent a year and a half as a student researcher at the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology under Dr. Carla Cicero.
Helen is in charge of running our Affymetrix GeneTitan MC microarray machine as well as our Applied Biosystems 3730XL DNA analyzer, and is thus deeply involved in our systems genetics initiative. She is currently working with Dr. Il-Jin Kim on a variety of systems genetics projects in thoracic cancers.
